NACOS Platinum to new LNG powered PSV

L-3 Valmarine has been awarded a contract with STX OSV to deliver a NACOS Platinum Integrated Navigation System to their new LNG powered PSV ordered by Solstad Rederi AS in Norway.
NACOS Platinum navigation system, jointly developed between SAM Electronics, Lyngsø Marine and L-3 Valmarine, is a network based Integrated Navigation System. The network design drastically reduce the amount of cables to be pulled and comprise the worlds first true IP Radar. NACOS Platinum Integrated Navigation System delivered from L-3 Valmarine is NAUT-OSV compliant and includes, in addition to the Radar, ECDIS and Conning, navigational sensors like Echo sounder, Speed log, GPS and a GMDSS A3 radio station.
The order is a result of L-3 Valmarine´s new strategic plan and strengthens L-3 Valmarine´s position in the offshore market.
The vessel is of STX OSV design PSV 12, a design with focus on low fuel consumption, and with a focus on DNV´s Clean Design requirements. The PSV will be able to run on LNG, biofuel and marine diesel oil.
The vessel will be 94.3m overal with a breadth of approximately 20.0m, a depth to the main deck of approximately 8.3m, and deadweight at maximum draught of approximately 5,000 tonnes. The hull will be built at STX OSV in Tulcea, Romania and outfitted at the STX OSV Langsten shipyard in Norway. Delivery is scheduled for November 2011.
